Project Overview

Academic Peers mission is to facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing among students in a professional and interactive setting. This platform features a map that shows available study rooms on campus to reserve and peers from classes that you can message and share notes from class.

Problem Statement
Help students to connect with a community of individuals who share similar interests, all while accommodating their personal circumstances such as managing work obligations, family commitments, or health issues.
Solution
Create a responsive app that will empower students to connect with a diverse and like-minded community, fostering collaboration, inspiration, and engagement in their learning journeys. It will be a versatile tool that adapts to their needs, allowing them to access valuable resources and stay connected anytime, anywhere.

My Process

User Persona- Alex

Alex is no ordinary online learner. He possesses an unwavering drive and an unrelenting passion to excel in his chosen course. His love for technology fuels his desire to explore its boundless possibilities. Yet, amidst his tech-savvy inclinations, Alex is averse to complexities. He yearns for simplicity, for learning tools that seamlessly guide him through his educational journey.

The overall mood revolves around generating a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with a pleasant touch that ensures inclusivity for everyone. Instead of using generic stock photos, I have incorporated some unique custom graphics to give it a personalized and distinctive touch.

Layout & Navigation

Now that I gained a more comprehensive understanding of the user persona and mood, I started the creation of low fidelity prototypes using Figma. Through this approach, I swiftly developed the structure and established the appropriate layout and navigation. In turn, this greatly expedited the decision-making process with a visual representation.

I began by transforming my early sketches into low-fidelity prototypes, followed by creating high-fidelity prototypes. During this progression, I performed thorough testing at each phase to guarantee that the design preserved maximum user-friendliness and aesthetic attraction.

For the typeface on Academic Peer, I aimed to select a bold vintage-inspired style for the headings and subheadings. In addition, I integrated Jakarta sans, a highly legible font, for the smaller printed elements.

The first task I had was to develop an app that aims to build a community of peers, fostering motivation and support within the field of education.

Secondly, stressing the importance of sharing and reviewing resources and assignments within your subject to enhance the users experience while maintaining friendliness and supportive learning environment.

Academic Peer's main goal is to make the learning experience even better by helping students connect with peers who share interests.This platform encourages interaction, peer feedback, and collaboration, all of which can help keep you motivated, spark creativity, and improve your study techniques. Academic Peer is a flexible tool that can help users discover valuable study resources, form connections with fellow learners, and be a part of a supportive community focused on personal growth.
